Backcountry Ski Boots - Ski Boots Back Country
Backcountry ski boots are mated with our metal edge backcountry skis. These ski boots are beefier than their touring cousins and are designed to be durable for off-track backcountry skiing. Our lightest BC boot is the Rossignol BC X2 boot. This is the perfect boot to go with the Rossignol BC 65 or the Fischer Silent Spider lightweight ski. This boot is ideal for skiing up to the hut on snowmobile trails where the snow isn't too deep. For an upgrade the Fischer Offtrack BC 3 provides a gaitor that will keep the snow out yet is also fairly flexible boot like the BC X2. As one moves up in the BC world, the boots are used more for straight backcountry conditions. The cuff reaches above the ankle and the laces are covered. These boots are also considerably stiffer both in the ankle as well as the flex. The Rossignol BC X5 and the BC X5 75mm ski boots are a perfect mate with the Rossignol BC 70 or the Fischer Outback 68 ski. Both these boots provide great ankle support and warmth. This boot can also be used with the narrower BC ski. For the full backcountry ski experience on lightweight metal edged skis, backcountry skiers select the Rossignol BC 9 or the Rossignol BC X11 75mm boot. These boots will provide the stability and control to be used on a wider backcountry ski such as the Rossignol BC 90. The ankle cuff provides more support and the boot rises higher on the leg, both to keep the snow out and to provide superior ankle support.
Backcountry Ski Boots
The Fischer backcountry ski boots and the Rossignol backcountry ski boots come in either the NNN BC boot platform or the 75mm (3-pin) platform. The Rossignol cross country ski boot for backcountry skiing states whether it is a 75mm boot or a BC boot on the NNN BC binding system. The 75mm boot will provide a wider platform and some skiers are die-hard fans. This boot-binding system however can only be mounted on a wider BC ski. The NNN BC binding is extremely popular, but it is all about skier preference when it comes to the NNN BC or 75mm boot choice.
